MOFFAT WINS FCSI 2006 MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR AWARD
UK catering equipment manufacturer E&R Moffat has been named international Manufacturer Of The Year for 2006 by the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI). The award, announced at the Societys 2006 conference in Edinburgh, is an honour presented annually to a company considered to have made significant advances in catering equipment design worldwide.
Moffat won this year for its Chillogen and 3D Logging innovations, which have helped to make banqueting, function and large-scale catering more effective and more of an exact science. The FCSI judges said the award was judged on several factors, including revolutionary product development, trendsetting technology, and responding to industry needs. The Moffat products have been welcomed not only by the catering equipment industry but also by both caterers and EHOs as a major contribution to making large-scale catering more efficient, easier and safer.
Accepting the award from the Societys Chairman Ken Winch, Moffats Sales Director Gary Allen said: We are delighted to get this worldwide recognition. But it's not happened in a vacuum; we couldnt have done it without the support and help of the caterers we work closely with."
He added Chillogen and 3D Logging arose out of meeting the real, immediate needs of many UK caterers. We believe that the new systems have not only changed the way caterers serve banquets but also the way public health officers consider them.
Chillogen is a banqueting trolley that can quick chill, hold and regenerate cooked food fully automatically and all in the same compartment.
Based on the concept of taking the kitchen to the customer, the Chillogen make it possible to cater for banquets and functions from even a modest kitchen, and can spread out the space, labour and time required. A single Chillogen unit can hold up to 90 ten-inch plates (with covers) on 15 shelves.
Moffats optional 3D logging system simplifies and extends the taking and keeping of food temperature records. Electronic sensors automatically record the internal temperatures of the oven/refrigerator at set intervals. It makes obsolete the time-consuming and inaccurate hand-held temperature probes and manual recording of results. Its fully compliant with statutory food safety regulations for due diligence data and provides an audit trail for up to two years.
Originally designed for Chillogen, 3D Logging was soon extended to work with any suitably equipped catering unit. So impressed are EHOs with Chillogen and 3D Logging that they immediately downgraded the risk category of the systems first major banqueting user, the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. This is now not only one of the worlds most prestigious banqueting suites, but recognised by EHOs as one of the most secure.
